This photo was taken from the air in July, 2007 (the date imprinted on the photo is not correct).  Lake Victoria is about 2500' out of the photo, to the bottom.  The secondary school is being built a few hundred feet to the lower right of the primary school buildings, which appear in the bottom right portion of the photo.  The road running from left to right at the top of the photo is the main road into the village.  The Mission Station is at the top of the photo...the former Victoria Primary School buildings can be seen on to top right.

Here are a few more recent photos...if there are any specific shots anyone would like to see please contact Hart Inlow

This photo was taken from the air in July, 2007 (the date imprinted on the photo is not correct).  Lake Victoria is about 2500' out of the photo, to the left.  The dormitory is the rectangular complex in the right center of the photo.  The main road to the school comes down from the top of the photo; however the village intends to close this road and make the road coming in from the upper right the main road to the school
This is a Biosand Filter...a slow sand filtration system used at the school dormitory.  It is very effective, very efficient, and very low maintenance.  It was contructed 100% of local materials, and was inexpensive to build.  The design was adapted from another design, and built specifically for this application by Roger Peters, in 2006.  It has been functioning for nearly two years, and provides an abundant supply of fresh, reliable drinking and cooking water to the dormitory.  A smaller filter, based on the same principle, was constructed in July, 2007, and has been working well.  More of the smaller size filter will be produced, as needed, for the teachers.
This tank provides important water pressure for the dormitory and teachers, when the main system is low on pressure.  However it is too small to give any substantial or long-term relief.
